Spring AiR

STRANGE GIRL | SANCTUARY

Final Offering: March 14 & 15

  • Devin Berg is a professional singer, songwriter, music producer, and theatre artist. She holds a Masters in Music Business from Berklee College of Music where she studied Ethnomusicology in A&R processes and developed the “Icon Formula,” a method for predicting musical icons via cultural analysis. She has rocked nationally with America’s #1 live party band company, Emerald City, internationally onboard Cunard Lines' Queen Elizabeth in the Royal Court Theatre Company, and locally on DFW theatrical stages. Her 2019 performance as the titular role in Imprint Theatreworks’ production of Lizzie: The Lizzie Borden Rock Musical earned her a DFW Theater Critics Forum Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress.

    In 2020, Devin created her alt-pop persona, Strange Girl. As an independent, self-publishing artist, she has amassed over 21k streams and 7k listeners, performed multiple concerts at AT&T PAC, and been featured on KXT and FRXDAY Music. Utilizing automatic writing and Musique Concrète to navigate themes of rage and freedom, her debut album, Thank You to Everyone I Have Loved, follows the story of a house on fire and is set to be released in 2025. @strangegirlmusic

DANI HOLWAY | UNDERGROUND

  • Dani (she/her) is a multi-passionate artist, educator, travel rat, and certified horse-girl homegrown in Texas. Her creative practice hinges on collaboration and community, spanning limitless mediums, and she considers herself a permanent student of the universe. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Writing with an emphasis in Poetry and Playwriting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. An accomplished actor and playwright, her one-woman show, On Monsters Built from Bees and Bone, was first produced in 2018. Her graduate thesis and original Lady Gaga jukebox musical, Monster, included a fully conceptualized and co-produced album released in 2021. Her poetry and creative nonfiction, often urgent in nature and rooted in connectivity, fury, and the female-identifying experience, have been published nationally in several notable literary magazines. She often hosts local writing workshops and spoken-word events, and founded the community writing series, ARTeries.  

    In 2022, she co-founded her photography business, Boy Howdy Co. In 2023, she launched her Substack, Paper Bones, where you can follow her train of thought and world travels. Most importantly, she was mom to the best soul dog ever, Marty McFly, who’s premature death in June 2024 was the inspiration for her upcoming unearthing, Stories of Loss. @xdanimc | @boyhowdy.co

 

Summer AiR

ERIN MALONE TURNER | SANCTUARY 

Final Offering: July 18 & 19

  • Erin Malone Turner is a New Orleans born, Dallas-based playwright & occasional actor/director/producer. Her featured plays across DFW include: “ingrained” & “GRAY” (Bishop Arts Theatre Co), “through a glass darkly” (Amphibian Stage), & “how to catch a ghost” (Kitchen Dog Theater). She has performed with several local theaters, including Echo Theatre, Kitchen Dog, Plague Mask Players, & Sundown Theatre. Her TACA grant-funded commissioned play “what fits inside a human heart” had its world premiere with Soul Repertory Theatre in 2023, and was nominated for an Irma P. Hall Black Theatre Award for Best Play; additionally, “the secret keepers” will have its world premiere with Echo Theatre in 2025. She was mentored by Audra McDonald from 2021-2023. She is currently a member of Second Thought Theatre’s playwriting cohort, Thought Process. Her work can be found on New Play Exchange. Black lives matter.

CHELITA MCDUFFIE | UNDERGROUND

Final Offering: July 10-24

  • Chelita McDuffie is a self-taught designer and artist based in the DFW area, originally from Richmond, Virginia. Her passion for design began in childhood, repurposing her grandmother’s nightgowns into outfits for her dolls. Known for her bold use of color, texture, and intricate prints, Chelita creates inclusive garments that empower wearers to embrace their individuality. Her designs combine elegance with audacity, prioritizing comfort and size inclusivity.

    Through her company, That’s Sew Creative!, Chelita offers traveling sewing classes, focusing on underserved communities. She aims to teach sewing not just as a skill, but as a tool for self-expression and empowerment.

    Beyond fashion, Chelita explores fiber arts and fabric manipulation, pushing the boundaries of traditional garment-making. Whether designing or teaching, her work reflects a dedication to inspiring others and leaving a lasting impact on both the fashion industry and creative community.

 

Winter AiR

GABIREL SCAMPINI | SANCTUARY

Final Offering: November 14 & 15

  • Gabriel Scampini is a Venezuelan artist based in Dallas, TX. His artistic journey began at age 11 with Salsa Casino and Afro-Cuban dance. While studying Sociology at Universidad Central de Venezuela, he discovered a passion for theatre, working as an actor and staff member in productions like Great Expectations (Grupo Fabula), Como Agua para Chocolate (Grupo Fabula), and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (Ventura Producciones).

    Gabriel later expanded his dance skills, exploring genres such as Jazz Funk, Hip Hop, AfroBeats, and delving into Anthropological and Ritual Theatre. After moving to Dallas, he performed and competed with groups like The Neighborhood, Meraki, and Mademoiselle, while working with ORIZON across the metroplex. He also performed in First, M.I., Last (by Rai Barnard) and served as a production coordinator for Teatro Dallas.

    In 2024, Gabriel joined the SEEDS Cohort (by Agora Artists) and performed in HAZARDS (by Katie Burks) at the AT&T Elevator Project. He is also one of the new directors for Teatro Dallas’ inaugural Nuevo Mundo festival.

CHUKWUDI UKONNE | UNDERGROUND

Final Offering: November 6-20

  • Chukwudi Ukonne is a Nigerian-born essayist, researcher, and storyteller based in Dallas, Texas. His work explores African and Afro-diasporic history, politics, and culture. Chukwudi’s writing bridges the personal and political; he is currently exploring the contradictions and complexities of identity, belonging and cultural preservation, particularly within the context of immigration.

    Chukwudi’s work has received both local and international recognition. His essay Flight was shortlisted in Isele Magazine’s "Top Reads of 2023" Nonfiction category, and his coverage of the 2020 #EndSARS protests earned a special mention at the 2021 One World Media Awards for its “outstanding reporting and advocacy for local voices.” He is passionate about creating bold new work that amplifies historically marginalized voices within his community and beyond.
