Armando Aguirre received his bachelors degree in Visual Arts from the University of Texas at Dallas. Armando's art practice is informed by his Mexican American background and reflects his interests in Mexican Muralist, Chicano Culture, Graffiti colors, and Aztec Mythology.
My work is a translation of my pride of being a first generation Mexican American. I respect the past by drawing inspiration from Aztec symbolism and Chicano art. I feel a strong connection with my people when I paint figures that share the same skin as me. I wish to capture my families hustle, sacrifice, and beauty by embodying the influence they have in my life.
