As part of the Artist-in-Residence (AiR) at Arts Mission Oak Cliff, Brook-Lynne Clark will be engaging the community by hosting workshops and an exhibition. Through her new work "In the time it took", Clark utilizes installation and video to explore themes of home, ritual, and resonance in the Black South. Centered in the home of her great-grandmother, this project aims to find commonality through shared experiences of joy.
“In the time it took” creates a playground for the exploration of value systems as they relate to joy and grief- then investigate they pair so well together. A playground with diverse play structures. A playground that inspires creativity- that necessitates imagination. A playground that through vulnerability makes clear the value of joy- of care.
What does it mean when that playground looks like home?
On July 14th, “In the time it took” invites the local community to ask and investigate this question over a shared meal.
