Half Sky Full is a solo dance work created by Austin Diaz through AMOC’s 2024 AiR Series. A love letter to abyss, to impermanence — this 45 minute work in progress is set to a collage of found music and original text, taking the viewer through a fragmented passage of loss and decreation. Hiraeth, a Welsh concept, is sewn deeply into the words and movement throughout. Half Sky Full is a reflection on resilience and our ability to reframe the world around us.

Hiraeth — (n.) a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past. It is nowhere and it is everywhere.

This program is supported, in part, by the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture and Comerica Charitable Giving.
